Early cherry blossom viewing locations in Kochi

Located in southern Japan, Kochi Prefecture is an area that experiences earlier cherry tree blossoming than anywhere else. The Yukiwari-zakura cherry trees in Susaki City start blossoming in the cold month of February and in the urban hub of Kochi City, cherry blossoms decorate the castle. The flowers can be enjoyed during a boat cruise along the Horikawa River that runs through the city. Picturesque landscapes can also be seen along the Shimanto River, with cherry blossom trees growing along both sides of this an untouched river whose clear stream runs through the western side of the prefecture.  (Photo shot in spring 2015)
