Uchiko-cho, the Shangri-La with Cherry blossoms

Uchiko-cho, Ehime Prefecture is a town located in a mountainous area in Shikoku region, southern Japan. The town was once well-known for the production of Japanese paper and candles. Houses of locals and wealthy families and a theater, which were built approx. 100 years ago spending all their savings, are still well-looked after by local people, creating very unique, beautiful landscapes. A view of cherry blossoms coloring the villages spread over the mountains is so breathtaking that you feel as if you are in a paradise. (photo shot in spring, 2017)
